The Unexpected Headshot Photoshoot
What started as a simple headshot session in my studio in Palmer, Alaska and it quickly turned into something a little more creative.
We leaned into a monochromatic look—pairing a purple shirt with a purple studio backdrop—and randomly I had this toy ocotopus in the corner of the room. She sait it and added it in herself. The result felt cohesive, modern, and just unexpected enough to stand out.
One thing I’ve found as a headshot photographer is that giving clients something to interact with can completely change the energy of a session. Having a prop helped her relax, brought out more natural expressions, and added personality to what could have been a more traditional headshot.
